Jeffrey Grinvalds
My name is Jeff Grinvalds, but in Latvia I go by Džefrijs Grīnvalds. As you may have noticed, I have an American first name and a Latvian surname. Why is that?
I was born to Latvian refugees in the state of Nebraska, right in the middle of the United States. My parents fled Latvia after World War II, and they raised 7 children in the States. Unfortunately, they didn’t teach me the language, but I have always felt a strong connection to my Latvian roots.
I lived in Nebraska for most of my life, teaching English for 20 years and earning my Master’s Degree in English. I have always loved teaching, and felt that it was more of a calling than an occupation.
In 2016, I decided to move to Latvia after I found out that I could become a Latvian citizen through my mother.
In preparation for this life-changing journey, I acquired my CELTA certification so I could better teach English to non-English speakers. After leaving my English teaching job in Omaha, II moved here in 2017.
I came to Latvia with a mission to help educate individuals and improve overall English language usage as much as possible. During the past 7 years, I have taught at several schools including Riga Technical University, Gymnasium 2, and Lingua Franca. In addition, I have been teaching individual students and editing and proofreading English-language documents for academics as well as private individuals.
I am an English expert with vast experience in grammar, vocabulary, and language structures. Using this experience, I am able to identify issues and correct mistakes efficiently, in a natural and sophisticated way. You will love learning English!
More recently, I have been teaching English in corporate environments with a focus on improving business communiciation and enhancing the ability of Latvian businesses to communicate and compete in global markets.
